[00:00] You're listening to the Still Us™ Audio Series — quiet conversations for couples in hard seasons, created by Tameka Lancaster, therapist and founder of Emotional Blueprint Academy.

[00:13] These aren't therapy sessions. They are guided spaces for when you feel stuck, sad, or overwhelmed — but aren't ready to give up.

[00:23] You don't need to solve anything right now. Just breathe, and let these words hold space for what hasn't been said yet.

[00:32] Whether you're listening together or alone, this is a place for truth without punishment, and connection without pressure.

[00:42] I'm Tameka. Welcome to Emotional Blueprint Academy. This Still Usâ„¢ conversation is for anyone who's ever felt like love slowly became self-erasure.

[00:55] If you've been asking yourself "How do I stay close to you without disappearing inside this relationship?" — this is for you.

[01:04] Because loving someone doesn't mean you have to lose yourself. Sometimes that's exactly what happens.

[01:14] You start accommodating. Shrinking. Adjusting. Not all at once — just in little ways.

[01:23] Softening boundaries. The year of silence. The "hang in there." The "I'm fine" — when you weren't. Until…

[01:32] …one day you realize you've been loving from a place of disappearance — not of presence. And now the very connection you wanted to preserve is the one you feel most hidden inside.

[01:47] That begins by returning to yourself. Sit with yourself. Where am I, right now, in this relationship?

[01:57] Where do I feel the need to make myself smaller in order to be received? What part of me has gone invisible in this skin? And lately…

[02:09] …is it your voice? Maybe it's your anger. Or maybe it's your creativity. Your sexuality. Your spirituality. Your leadership.

[02:20] Your boundaries. Or whatever it is — you're not wrong for wanting to bring it back. Loving someone should never mean leaving yourself. So take a moment here.

[02:34] Place a hand on your heart, or place your palms on your thighs. Grounding yourself. Say, quietly, internally — or aloud:

[02:45] "I am allowed to take up space here, even while loving you. I don't have to shrink to keep this connection intact."

[02:57] If you're listening together, sit in this moment without trying to fix it. Let the silence speak.

[03:06] Then, when you're ready, name just one part of yourself you want to set back in the center.

[03:18] You can say: "I want to bring this part of me back into the relationship. But I need to know it's safe here."

[03:28] "I want to feel like I matter in this connection — not just function in it. I want us to love each other without holding each other hostage emotionally."

[03:41] This isn't a vow. It's a restoration. It's saying: "I love you. And I also love me. I want both of us to be visible here."

[03:52] It's not distance that ends us. It's the assumption that real love means blending so tightly you forget who you are.

[04:02] What if real love sounds like: "I see you, and I see myself. I'll stay here with you — but not at the cost of my clarity or my truth. I'll stay close to you without canceling my own."

[04:18] This is how you return to yourself without leaving the relationship. This is how love evolves without requiring self-erasure.

[04:30] You're allowed to love without losing. To care deeply and still have boundaries. To remain connected — and remain intact.

[04:41] Say this softly: "I can hold love for us without abandoning love for myself." You're not selfish for wanting that. You're soft.

[04:53] Let that be your beginning. This conversation may not fix everything — but it's a start.

[05:01] And sometimes, the repair begins before the words do. If you need to revisit this — do. If you need space, take it.

[05:11] If you need to say something now, let it come through — even softly. For more tools to reconnect with care…
